Este 26 de septiembre la Agencia Europea de Seguridad Aérea (EASA) otorgó el certificado tipo para la nueva versión 900neo del Airbus A330 propulsado por motores Rolls-Royce Trent 7000.
El documento, firmado por el director de certificación de EASA, señor Trevor Woods fue entregado a Jean Brice Dumont, director del departamento de engineering de Airbus Commercial Aircraft. Se espera luego el certificado de la correspondiente administración federal americana de aviación, es decir la Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
TAP – Air Portugal la compañía aérea de lanzamiento recibirá este primero modelo, equipado con la nueva cabina Airspace, en las próximas semanas.
Junto con 2 A330-900 de pruebas, el modelo 914n de Air Portugal con matrícula     F-WWKN participó en las pruebas de rutas, visitando a más de 12 países. La campaña de pruebas de certificaciones sumando alrededor de 1400 horas de vuelos se completó satisfactoriamente en menos de un año desde la fecha de su primer vuelo de prueba el 19 de octubre de 2017.
El A330neo estará disponible en 2 versiones, el A330-900 y el A330-800 de menor capacidad que está por realizar su primer vuelo en las próximas semanas.
El A330-900 tiene una capacidad de 300 asientos y propone el costo por asiente y millas más bajo en su categoría.
Gracias a sus motores Trent 7000 pero también un nuevo diseño de alas en 3D así como sharklets de punta de alas en materiales compuestos más ligeros permiten una reducción significativa del 25 por ciento en el consume de combustible en comparación a aviones de generaciones anteriores y también tamaño parecido.
Su nueva cabina Airspace by Airbus ofrece niveles de confort óptimos tal como paredes laterales y accesorios de nuevo diseño, compartimientos más amplios para equipajes de cabina, sistema avanzado de iluminación ambiental de la cabina y los más modernos equipos de conectividad y entretenimiento a bordo.
Por la parte operativa, el A330neo comparte la misma certificación de tipo que el A350 XWB, permitiendo así minimizar los costos de formación e entrenamientos para pilotos resultando así en una mejor flexibilidad y productividad.
Por su parte el personal de mantenimiento, gracias al nuevo sistema de conectividad de datos Skywise, tendrá una ayuda que les permitirán prevenir posibles problemas antes de que estos mismos ocurren garantizando así una máxima producción del nuevo Airbus en servicio comercial.
El A330 es uno de los aviones de cabina ancha más populares de la historia y se comprueba con las cifras de más de 1700 pedidos y aviones volando con 120 operadores en el mundo.
Además, a la fecha del 31 de agosto, 224 ejemplares de la familia A330neo todos en la versión 900 están inscritos en los registros de compras de la Airbus.
El A330-900 viene con una masa máxima al despegue de 251 toneladas y puede cubrir la distancia de 13 334 km (7 200 nm) es decir unos 1600 km más que la autonomía de las últimas versiones del A330-300

On September 26, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) granted the Type certification for the new 900neo version of the Airbus A330 powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines.
The document, signed by the EASA Certification Director, Mr. Trevor Woods, was delivered to Jean Brice Dumont, head of the engineering department of Airbus Commercial Aircraft.
The certificate of the corresponding American Federal Aviation Administration is expected to follow shortly. TAP – Air Portugal, the launch customer, will receive this first model equipped with the new Airspace cabin in the coming weeks.
Together with two A330-900 tests, the 914N model of Air Portugal with registration F-WWKN participated in the route proving, visiting more than 12 countries. The certification testing campaign totalling around 1400 flight hours was successfully completed in less than a year from the date of its first flight on October 19, 2017.

The A330neo will be available in two versions, the A330-900 and the A330-800 of less capacity expecting to make its first flight in the coming weeks.
The A330-900 has a capacity of 300 seats is the lowest cost per seat-miles cost in its category.
Thanks to its Trent 7000 engines but also a new wing design in 3D as well as wingtip sharklets in lighter composite materials, it allows a significant 25 percent reduction in fuel consumption compared to previous generation aircraft of comparative similar.
The new Airspace by Airbus cabin offers optimum levels of comfort such as newly designed sidewalls and fixtures, larger overhead cabin luggage compartments, advanced cabin lighting system and the latest in-flight entertainment and connectivity equipment.
On the operational side, the A330neo shares the same type rating as the A350 XWB, thus minimizing the costs of ground course and flight training for pilots, resulting in better flexibility and productivity.
For its part, the maintenance staff, thanks to the aircraft’s new Skywise data connectivity system, will have a help that will allow them to predict prevent potential problems before they occur, thus guaranteeing maximum productivity of the new Airbus in revenue service.

The A330 is one of the most popular widebody aircraft in history with more than 1700 orders and aircraft flying with 120 customers in the world.
In addition, as to August 31, 224 models of the A330neo family, all in the 900 version, are registered in the orders books of the Airbus.

The A330-900 comes with a maximum take-off mass of 251 tons and can cover the distance of 13 334 km (7 200 nm). That is about 1600 km more than the range of the latest versions of the A330-300.
