En mi estadía en Asunción en abril 2024, tuve la posibilidad de visitar el Grupo Aerotáctico de la Fuerza Aérea Paraguaya en su base del aeropuerto Silvio Pettirossi.

En la entrevista que nos otorgó el General del Aire Julio Rubén Fullaondo Céspedes, comandante de la Fuerza Aérea Paraguaya,

abordamos los proyectos de incorporación de 6 Embraer AT-27 (EMB 314) Super Tucano en su version A-29 de ataque a tierra, para los cuales el Gobierno de Paraguay firmo una carta de intención el 2 de mayo pasado.

Estos aviones de casas están destinados a reemplazar los Embraer AT-26 (EMB-326GB) Xavante retirados del servicio en los años 2002 y 2003.

También está proyectado la modernización de los 6 Embraer AT-27 (EMB 312) Tucano aun en operación, es decir los 1051,1052,1053, 1057,1058 y 1059.

Otro proyecto que esta al estudio es ampliar y modernizar la rama de transporte de la Fuerza Aérea y para este proyecto están considerado 1 a 2 ejemplares del Airbus Military (Casa) C-295.

Finalmente se abordó el tema de los ENAER T-35. Inicialmente la Fuerza Aérea Paraguay adquirió 13 de estos aviones de entrenamiento. Lastimosamente 5 se perdieron en accidentes.

Los 2 primeros en ser modernizados a la version T-35B, siendo los 0108 y 0109, fueron recibidos en una ceremonia realizada el 28 de agosto,2023.
El contrato, firmado en 2022 con la empresa chilena ENAER, considerada la revisión técnica, reparaciones, modernización e instalación de sistema GPS Nav/Com Garmin GTN 650xi en seis de los aviones de entrenamiento.

Al terminar la entrevista, nos dirigimos hacia la base aérea en el aeropuerto internacional Silvio Pettirossi donde tuvimos la oportunidad de ver 5 AT-27 (EMB 312) Tucano es decir 3 operativos y 2 en mantenimiento.

Por su parte 2 Casa 212-200, ‘’2027’’ y ‘’2033’’, estaban estacionados mientras que el Casa 212-300 ‘’2035’’ estaba en mantenimiento.

En otro hangar se nos dio la posibilidad de fotografiar los 5 Cessna 208B Gran Caravan ‘’0250’’ a ‘’0254’’

Para terminar y a mi grande sorpresa nos mostraron el ultimo hangar donde estaba el precitado Casa 212-300 pero también el De Havilland Canada DHC-6-200 Twin Otter con matrícula ZP-GAS.

Tengo una larga relación con este avión ya que en una de mis primeras visitas a finales de los años 80 lo vi con código »FAP-01» y FAP-02

para finalmente recibir el código 2036.

ZP-GAS fue su matricula original cuando llego a Paraguay en julio de 1968 para ser utilizado como avión personal del entonces presidente de la Republica General Alfredo Stroessner.

Estaremos atentos a las noticias acerca de los proyectos de incorporación de los Embraer AT-27 (EMB 314) Super Tucano y Airbus Military (Casa) C- 295.

Visits to the Aerotactical Group of the Paraguayan Air Force.
During my stay in Asunción in April 2024, I had the opportunity to visit the Aerotactic Group of the Paraguayan Air Force at its base at the Silvio Pettirossi airport.
In the interview given to us by Air General Julio Rubén Fullaondo Céspedes, commander of the Paraguayan Air Force, we addressed the projects for the incorporation of 6 Embraer AT-27 (EMB 314) Super Tucano in its A-29 ground attack version, for which the Government of Paraguay signed a letter of intent on May 2. These house aircraft are intended to replace the Embraer AT-26 (EMB-326GB) Xavante retired from service in 2002 and 2003.
The modernization of the 6 Embraer AT-27 (EMB 312) Tucano still in operation, that is, 1051,1052,1053, 1057,1058 and 1059, is also planned.
Another project that is being studied is to expand and modernize the transportation branch of the Air Force and for this project 1 to 2 examples of the Airbus Military (Casa) C-295 are being considered.
Finally, the issue of the ENAER T-35 was addressed. Initially the Paraguayan Air Force acquired 13 of these training aircraft. Unfortunately, 5 were lost in accidents.

The contract, signed in 2022 with the Chilean company ENAER, considers the technical review, repairs, modernization and installation of the Garmin GTN 650xi GPS Nav/Com system in six of the training aircraft.
At the end of this interview, we headed towards the air base at the Silvio Pettirossi international airport where we had the opportunity to see 5 AT-27 (EMB 312) Tucano, that is, 3 operational and 2 in maintenance.
For its part, 2 Casa 212-200, »2027» and »2033», were parked while Casa 212-300 »2035» was under maintenance.
In another hangar we were given the opportunity to photograph the 5 Cessna 208B Gran Caravan »0250» to »0254»
To finish, and to my great surprise, they showed us the last hangar where the aforementioned Casa 212-300 was but also the De Havilland Canada DHC-6-200 Twin Otter with registration ZP-GAS.
I have a long relationship with this aircraft since on one of my first visits at the end of the 80s I saw it with code »FAP-01» and FAP-02 to finally receive the code 2036. ZP-GAS was its original registration when it arrived in Paraguay in July 1968 to be used as the personal plane of the then President of the Republic General Alfredo Stroessner.
We will be attentive to the news about the incorporation projects of the Embraer AT-27 (EMB 314) Super Tucano and Airbus Military (Casa) C- 295.
