El pasado 21 de diciembre 2023 iniciamos una visita a la ciudad de Chillán.
Llegue con el proyecto de visitar el aeródromo General Bernardo O’Higgins, así como las instalaciones del Club Aéreo de Chillán. También aproveche de visitar el casco histórico de la ciudad.

Elegimos la opción ‘’vía aérea’’, es decir la Serena-Santiago y a continuación un Santiago-Concepción para luego terminar el viaje en bus.
En nuestra escala en el aeropuerto Arturo Merino Benítez de Santiago, aproveche por supuesto una sesión de fotos:

Lo más destacado para mí fue la oportunidad de ver el Boeing E-3D Sentry »905» de la Fuerza Aérea de Chile. Me recordé la oportunidad que tube de ver este mismo avión en junio de 1992 en el Boscombe Down Air Tournament International 1992 cuando operaba como ZH103 de la Royal Air Force.

En nuestra hora de llegada, el tráfico aéreo en el aeropuerto de Concepción-Carriel Sur este día no respondió a mis expectativas:

En cuanto a mi estadía en Chillán, esta fue exitosa y me proporciono con un descubrimiento de lo mas sorprendente.
Gracias a la gentileza del personal de turno en el aeródromo tuve acceso a la plataforma, permitiendo así unas tomas de fotos mas apropiadas sobre todo cuando los 2 helicópteros presentes tuvieron que cambiar de plataforma:

Lastimosamente y por retraso en su estimada de llegada, no alcance a ver el Sikorsky S-64 Skycrane.

Para poder apreciar la potencia y capacidades del helicóptero Sikorsky S-64, les presento una seria de fotos tomadas en su llegada en la vigésima edición de la Feria Internacional del Aire y del Espacio – FIDAE 2018.

Como cada año, en la temporada de verano, contamos con la participación de estos helicópteros y aviones de diferentes capacidades de carga con el fin de combatir los incendios forestales y este año tenemos que deplorar que, en la región de Valparaíso y Viña del Mar, estamos enfrentando una tragedia de magnitud jamás alcanzado en la historia de Chile, ordenando evacuaciones masivas en los sectores afectados.

Tal como lo presente en la introduccion, aprovechamos el tiempo para visitar la catedral de Chillán y, al informarme sobre este edificio, mi sorpresa fue grande de descubrir lo siguiente.
Aunque estoy abordando un tema completamente diferente, es decir, la arquitectura, igual estoy presentando un tema relacionado con el mundo de la aviación y estoy seguro que le sorprenderán.

Hernán Larraín Errázuriz, arquitecto a cargo del proyecto, presentó un edificio moderno basado en … los hangares de dirigibles del Aeropuerto de Paris – Orly, pero la idea siendo más en parecer la unión de las 2 manos en una oración.

Cuál fue mi asombro y sobre todo mi sorpresa al saber que Orly tenía hangares para dirigibles desde 1923-1925 y sobre todo que un edificio estaba inspirado en ellos.

On December 21, 2023, we started a visit to the city of Chillán.
