Mi trabajo como tripulante de cabina me dio la oportunidad de viajar a muchos lugares del mundo pero sobre todo de satisfacer mi pasión por la fotografía de temas aeronáuticos. Una de las mejor oportunidades que tuve en estos años fue una visita a la Canadian Forces Base de Ottawa en marzo de 1991. Igual si en estos años yo no era un aficionado de los aviones militares, el hecho de ver un CF-18 Hornet o un helicóptero Chinook de tan cerca cambiarían por seguro su mente. Nuestra intención a primera era de ver los CH-47 Chinook y los CH-146 (Bell 412) del escuadrón 450 de helicópteros de transportes así como el Canadair CC-144 (Challenger) y el Convair CC-109 (Convair 580) operando con el escuadrón 412 de transporte. Pero nuestra sorpresa fue grande de ver unos 9 Hornet y un Canadair CT-133 Silver Star (Lockheed T-33). En realidad, los Hornet habían recién vueltos del Medio Oriente luego de participar en la primera guerra de Iraq. La base fue desactivada a mediano de los años 90 luego de más de 50 años de operaciones.

My job as a cabin attendant has given me the opportunity to travel to many places around the world but above all to fulfil my hobby of taking pictures at the airports. One of the best opportunity I have had in those years was a visit at the Canadian Forces Base Ottawa back in March 1991. Even if in those years I was not so enthusiast about military aircrafts, the fact of seeing a CF-18 Hornet or a Chinook from that close would surely change your mind. Our intention at first was to see the CH-47 Chinook and the CH-146 (Bell 412) of the 450 Transport Helicopter squadron as well as the Canadair CC-144 (Challenger) and the Convair CC-109 (Convair 580) operated by the 412 transport squadron. But our surprise was great to see about 9 Hornet and a Canadair CT-133 Silver Star (Lockheed T-33). In fact the Hornets had just come back from the Middle East after operating in the first Iraqi war. The Base was closed in the mid-90s after more than 50 years of operation.
