En la lista de ferias aéreas organizadas en Bélgica, el International Sanicole Airshow (ISA) es el único show aéreo civil que se desempeña cada año, organizado por el aeroclub Sanicole pero debido a la falta de infraestructura en su aeródromo de Hechtel-Eksel, municipalidad de Leopoldsburg-Beverlo, las actividades se realizan en la base aérea de Kleine-Brogel cerca de la frontera holandesa, al sur de Eindhoven, y unos 14 kilómetros al Noreste del mencionado aeródromo.
Del 8 al 10 de septiembre 2017, se celebraron 40 años de este encuentro aeronáutico que, a lo largo de los años, ha logrado posicionarse en la lista de eventos internacionales apreciados tanto por los pilotos civiles y militares que por los aficionados del tema.
Debido a las reglas estrictas elaboradas en la planificación y organización de un show aéreo, ISA es el único en sobre vivir a los fines de 90 en Bélgica. Eso es más la consecuencia del accidente aéreo ocurrido el 26 de julio de 1997 en el show aéreo de Ostende y que costó la vida a 10 personas dejando 58 heridos cuando un piloto de los Royal Jordanian Falcons perdió el control de su Extra-300.
El Aeroclub Sanicole empiezo a operar en octubre de 1971 en el aeródromo de Leopoldsburg- Beverlo y el 29 de abril del año siguiente se inauguró oficialmente los locales del club.
El origen de la apelación de este aeroclub es bien singular. Uno podría pensar que es el nombre de un lugar, pueblo o aeródromo, podría ser también las abreviaciones de una apelación del club pero nada de esto sería la respuesta correcta. Sanicole es en realidad… una marca de mayorista en instalaciones sanitarias propiedad del fundador del aeroclub el señor Lucien Plees, el entonces alcalde de la ciudad de Beverlo. Esta denominación tiene su origen en la mezcla de la palabra Sociedad Anónima S.A. con el nombre de su hija Nicole. Esto es una de las pequeñas anécdotas que hacen la grande historia de la aviación mundial.

La lista de aviones en presentación en esta edición 2017 muestra bien la evolución de este acontecimiento y estamos lejos de los inicios con unos cuantos pilotos civiles asiendo acrobacias con Stampe SV-4 u otros.
Escuadrías de alta acrobacia conocidas tal como “los Frecce Tricolori” italianos en MB339U, “los Saudi Hawks” en BAe Hawk MK65 trainer, la “Patrulla Suiza” volando el Northrop F-5E Tiger II marcados de una cruz blanca en la pansa de sus aviones, de rojo pintados y también “los Royal Jordanian Falcons” con Extra 300L demostraron sus habilidades de vuelos y no podemos olvidar las presentaciones belgas de los Red Devils en sus SIAE-Marchetti SF-260 o las demostraciones de los “Tigres de Plata” compuesto por 4 F-16. Dentro de estas presentaciones había que destacar “la Patrulla ASPA” española con 5 helicópteros Eurocopter EC 120 Colobri.

También se pudo apreciar las evoluciones de aviones en solo tal como el F-16 turco, un Rafale C francés Solo Team. También un Saab JAS-39C Gripen sueco, un Boeing F/A-18C Hornet y un F-16 griego. Y un sobre vuelo por parte de un KC-135R marco la participación americana (Air National Guard) en este festival aéreo.

Otra muestra bien apreciada de los espectadores fue el mock up del Lockheed F-35 Lightning II con las insignias belgas representado el posible reemplazo del  F-16

La característica de este evento es una nocturna organizada el viernes a partir de las 18h así como un spotter day el sábado.

In the list of air shows organized in Belgium, the International Sanicole Air show (ISA) is the only civil air show to be held every year. It is organized by the Sanicole Aero club but due to the lack of infrastructure at its Hechtel-Eksel aerodrome, municipality of Leopoldsburg-Beverlo, the activities are carried out at the Kleine-Brogel air force base near the Dutch border, south of Eindhoven, and about 14 kilometres north-east of the airfield
From the 8th to the 10th of September 2017, 40 years of this aeronautical meeting were celebrated that over the years, has positioned itself in the list of international events appreciated by both civilian and military pilots and also the air enthusiast.
Due to the strict regulations elaborated in the planning and organization of an air show, ISA is the only one to live on towards the end of the 90s in Belgium. That is more because of the aviation accident that occurred on 26 July 1997 during the Ostend air show and cost the lives of 10 people leaving 58 injured when a Royal Jordanian Falcons pilot lost control of his Extra-300.
Aero club Sanicole started operation in October 1971 at the Leopoldsburg-Beverlo airfield and on 29 April of the following year, the club premises were officially opened.
The origin of the name of this air club is unique. One might think it is the name of a place, town or airfield, it could also be the abbreviations of a club appeal but none of this would be the correct answer.
Sanicole is actually … a brand of wholesaler in sanitary facilities owned by the founder of the flying club Mr. Lucien Plees the then mayor of the city of Beverlo. This denomination has his origin in the addition of the names Société Anonyme S.A. (Limited Company) with the first name of his daughter Nicole.
This is one of the little anecdotes that make the great history of world aviation.
The list of planes on presentation in this 2017 edition shows well the evolution of this event and we are far from the beginnings with a few civilian pilots performing acrobatics with Stampe SV-4 or others.
Known high acrobatics teams such as the Italian “Frecce Tricolori» in MB339U, «the Saudi Hawks» in BAe Hawk MK65 trainer, the «Swiss Patrol» flying the Northrop F-5E Tiger II marked with a white cross on the belly of their red aircraft and also the «Royal Jordanian Falcons» with Extra 300L demonstrated their flying skills. Moreover, we may not forget the Belgian Red Devils performances in their SIAE-Marchetti SF-260 or the demonstrations of the «Silver Tigers» with four Belgian F-16s. Among these presentations was also «the Spanish ASPA Patrol» with five Eurocopter EC 120 Colobri helicopters.
It was possible to see the evolutions of airplanes in solo demonstrations such as the Turkish F-16, a French Rafale C Solo Team. Also a Saab JAS-39C Swedish Gripen, a Boeing F / A-18C Hornet and a Greek F-16.
In addition, an over-flight by a KC-135R frame the American participation (Air National Guard) to this air show.
Another well-appreciated presentation was the mock-up of the Lockheed F-35 Lightning II with the Belgian colours representing the possible replacement of the F-16.
The feature of this event is an evening presentation organized on Friday from 18h as well as a spotter day on Saturday.
