Creo que todos nosotros amantes de la aviación en general soñamos un día de poder volar en un “OldTimer” y reconozco que, a lo largo de ver el Beechcraft T-34 Mentor en la loza del aeródromo Eulogio Sánchez de Santiago de Chile, el hipotético deseo de poder un día volar en una de estas máquinas se desarrolló en mí, igual si mi preferencia va más hacia los Boeing, Airbus y otros aviones de líneas aéreas tan modernos que antiguo. La oportunidad se me presento en Octubre de 2015 al recibir un mail del departamento de relaciones públicas del Club aéreo de Santiago pidiendo mi colaboración en un reportaje sobre el festival aéreo de Rodelillo celebrando los 80 años del Club Aéreo de Valparaíso y el transporte se haría nada menos que con el Beech Mentor del Club.

Luego de presentarme en operaciones y conversa con el piloto, salimos del aeródromo de Tobalaba a las 11h en el Beech Mentor CC-KST. Después del despegue nos dirigimos hacia Los Cerrillos y luego al sur, pasando al este de El Bosque. Tomamos rumbo hacia la costa y después de unos 30 minutos de vuelo, iniciamos el descenso y aproximación para una pasada sobre el aeródromo de Rodelillo y viraje por la izquierda para iniciar el aterrizar en el mencionado aeródromo.

Este vuelo me dio la oportunidad de apreciar el Mentor en todas sus características de vuelos y además realizar unas fotos en vuelo tal como era el proyecto inicial.

El vuelo de retorno a Santiago fue el siguiente: Luego del despegue, esta vez en el  CC-KXT, y una pasada sobre el aeródromo, nos dirigimos hacia Curacaví  y Santiago donde aterrizamos al cumplir  un vuelo de 50 minutos que me dio la oportunidad de apreciar la ciudad.

Quiero expresar mis más profundos agradecimientos al Club aéreo de Santiago, a sus pilotos y sobre todo al departamento de relaciones públicas.

El Beechcraft A-45 Mentor con matricula CC-KXT en 1995

I think all of us aviation enthusiast in general dreamed of flying in an «Old Timer» and I recognize that with seeing the Beechcraft T-34 Mentor on the ramp of the Eulogio Sánchez airfield in Santiago de Chile, the hypothetical desire to flying one day in one of these machines developed in me, even if my preferences goes more towards the Boeing, Airbus and other airplanes ,modern as well as older. The opportunity presented itself to me in October 2015 when I receiving an email from the public relations department of the Aero club de Santiago asking for my collaboration in a report on the Rodelillo airshow celebrating 80 years of the Aero club of Valparaíso and the transport would be no less than with the Club’s Beech Mentor. After introducing myself to operations and talking with the pilots, we left the airfield of Tobalaba at 11 am with the Beech Mentor CC-KST. After take-off we headed towards Los Cerrillos and then to the south, passing east of El Bosque. We headed than towards the coast and after about 30 minutes of flight, we began the descent and approach for a low pass over the aerodrome of Rodelillo and turn left to start the approach and landing at the mentioned aerodrome. This flight gave me the opportunity to appreciate the Mentor in all its flight characteristics and to make some photos in flight, as it was the initial project.
The return flight to Santiago was as follows: After take-off, this time in the CC-KXT, and a pass on the aerodrome, we headed towards Curacaví and Santiago where we landed after a 50-minute flight that gave me the opportunity to appreciate the city.
