El 25 de octubre de 2017, la compañía china Hainan Airlines abrió una ruta directa que conecta Bruselas, capital de Europa, con Shanghái, megalópolis china de más de 22 millones de habitantes.
La empresa aérea china ya ha estado operando una ruta Bruselas-Beijing por más de 10 años, cotidiana desde mediados de mayo hasta finales de septiembre y tres veces por semana durante el resto del año.
La conexión con el Aeropuerto Internacional de Shanghai-Pudong se efectuara a razón de tres vuelos semanales directos con Boeing 787 (algunos vuelos se realizarán en Airbus 330) en configuración ejecutiva y economy.
El vuelo inaugural fue realizado con un Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner matriculado  B-7880.
Los pasajeros de la clase ejecutiva disfrutan de un transfer gratuito ida y vuelta al aeropuerto, así como el mismo servicio en las ciudades chinas.

Hainan Airlines fue fundada en 1993 y es la primera empresa conjunta entre China y un empresario estadounidense, Georges Soros. Hoy, forma parte del Grupo HNA que tiene inversiones, entre otras, en aerolíneas, aeropuertos, hoteles y bancos. Hainan Airlines ofrece más de 700 vuelos nacionales e internacionales que conectan a más de 110 destinos en el mundo, a través de 12 hubs. Opera con una flota moderna de Airbus 330, Boeing 787 y Boeing 737.

 

Por séptimo año consecutivo, recibió el «Premio 5-Star Airline Ratings» de Skytrax y la oficina de evaluación de seguridad aérea de Alemania, JACDEC, declaró a Hainan Airlines la tercera aerolínea más segura del mundo en febrero de 2017.
«Desde que Hainan Airlines abrió una línea con China en 2006, cientos de miles de personas ya han podido aprovechar los aclamados servicios de nuestra compañía», dijo Huo Wei, vicepresidente de Hainan Airlines., “y esta conexión permitirá a través de sus vuelos directos, estimular este crecimiento”.

En su discurso, en la ceremonia de inauguración, el primer ministro belga Charles Michel y Arnaud Feist, director general del aeropuerto de Bruselas, dijeron que Bélgica desea establecer un enlace con las principales ciudades de Asia.

Luego de los discursos tradicionales y el corte de la cinta, la prensa fue invitada a una visita del avión y observar desde la pista el saludo de los bomberos del aeropuerto con un arco de agua antes de su vuelo de regreso a Shanghái.

 

 

¿Cuál es la situación del aeropuerto de Bruselas? Con 21,8 millones de pasajeros y 495,000 toneladas de carga al año, el aeropuerto de Bruselas es uno de los más grandes de Europa. Conecta la capital europea con 238 destinos operados por 78 aerolíneas (cifras de 2016).

Diseñados para responder a la tendencia general de las aerolíneas de operar en el aeropuerto de Bruselas con aviones cada vez más grandes, las 24 mangas de embarque y desembarque del ala B que datan de 1992 serán reemplazados por materiales de última tecnología. Equipados con aire acondicionado, tendrán un diseño moderno y serán más eficientes.
«Esta importante inversión en nuevas puertas de embarque de última generación encaja perfectamente con la estrategia del aeropuerto de Bruselas para mejorar la comodidad de nuestros clientes, pasajeros y aerolíneas, y aumentar la eficiencia». «, explica Arnaud Feist, CEO del aeropuerto de Bruselas.
Dos tercios de las nuevas pasarelas consistirán en una plataforma doble para acceder a la aeronave, lo que facilitará un embarque y desembarque más rápido, proporcionando así más comodidad al pasajero y una mayor eficiencia operativa para las aerolíneas.
En las puertas 31 y 33 del ala B, se instalará una pasarela triple. Esto permitirá que el aeropuerto de Bruselas esté listo en el futuro para cumplir con cualquier solicitud de las aerolíneas para operar con un A380.
Mientras tanto, se puede utilizar como embarque doble para otras aeronaves grandes tipo Airbus A330, A350 y Boeing 777 o 787. La instalación de este nuevo sistema comenzó esta semana y es el primer paso del programa de renovación.
