Del 10 y el 21 de octubre se realizó en las Bases de Antofagasta-Cerro Moreno e Iquique-Los Cóndores la cuarta edición del Ejercicio Multinacional Combinado Salitre.
Es considerado como uno de los más importante y de mayor envergadura en América del Sur.
Se utilizaron medios aéreos y humanos no solamente de la Fuerza Aérea de Chile, sino que también las de Argentina, Brasil y una célula de la Fuerza Especial de los Estados Unidos. Estuvieron presente observadores de Canadá, Perú, México y Uruguay.

El objetivo de este ejercicio es reforzar la interoperabilidad de las Fuerzas Aéreas concurrentes bajo la normativa OTAN. Permite a las tripulaciones aéreas participantes difundir y compartir experiencias y conocimientos en el manejo y desempeños de las misiones combinadas.

La Fuerza Aérea de Chile utilizó los siguientes aviones de combate: en la base de Cerro Moreno los General Dynamics (Fokker) F-16AM y F-16BM Fighting Falcon,

CASA (ENAER) A-36 Halcon II,

Sikorsky MH-60M Black Hawk y Bell 412EP.

En Los Cóndores operaron los Lockheed Martin F-16CJ & F-16DJ Fighting Falcon,

los Northrop F-5E y F-5F Tiger III

y Embraer A-29B Super Tucano.

Para el apoyo y reabastecimiento en vuelo se utilizaron los Lockheed C-130H Hercules y Boeing KC-135E Stratotanker de la FACh.

Argentina operaba con 3 McDonnell Douglas A-4AR Fightinghawk

y 3 FMA IA-63 Pampa III

mientras que Brasil trajo 6 Northrop F-5EM Tiger II

y un Embraer KC-390 configurado para el reabastecimiento en vuelo.

Cabe destacar que, en esta edición de Salitre 2022, se utilizó por primera vez los servicios de las Fuerza Espacial de Estados Unidos y Dirección Espacial de la Fuerza Aérea de Chile quienes gracias a sus tecnologías de punta en las búsquedas y obtenciones de datos e informaciones de primeras importancias para las operaciones aéreas y terrestres abren un nuevo capítulo en las técnicas de combates.

Al mencionar la parte terrestre del Ejercicio, es de anotar la participación de Fuerzas Especiales de Chile y Estados Unidos constituidos por Comandos de Aviación de la FACh y Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) de la Fuerza Aérea de Estados Unidos. Una de sus misiones siendo la protección y defensa de las bases y centros de controles.

La inauguración oficial del Ejercicio Aéreo Multinacional Combinado Salitre 2022 se realizó el 10 de octubre en el hangar de instrucción técnica de la Base Aérea de Cerro Moreno, en Antofagasta presidida por el director del Ejercicio, General de Aviación Leonardo Romanini Gutiérrez

y con la presencia de las delegaciones participantes, nacionales como extranjeras.

Se presentó el siguiente escenario de combate: en base a una resolución de las Naciones Unidas de aplazar una invasión de la zona amarilla y permitir la entrega de ayuda humanitaria, es necesario levantar una coalición internacional con el apoyo de países aliados.
El conflicto opone la coalición Azul, liderada por Chile y con base en Cerro Moreno, a los Rojos partiendo desde la base de Los Cóndores, en Iquique.

672 personales de la FACh más 169 de Argentina, Brasil y Estados Unidos participaron en esta simulación de combate tanto aéreo como terrestre.
Las cifras entregadas informan de unos 32 aviones operando simultáneamente en 52 salidas, totalizando más de 300 vuelos.

Un ejercicio de esta magnitud implica no solamente el factor humano o material, sino que también los desafíos inherentes relacionados con las operaciones (metodologías comunes, procedimientos e idioma), las logísticas (apoyo a los aviones, procedimientos y seguridad militar) seguridad (gestión de gran cantidad de aeronaves y de zona de vuelo, procedimientos comunes en operaciones en losa),

y administraciones (Apoyo al personal que participa en el ejercicio, sobrecarga adicional en la base, sin olvidar los procedimientos especiales).
Estas acciones y operaciones cotidianas combinadas permiten desarrollar mas los lazos de amistades gracias a las interacciones de los diferentes participantes del ejercicio.

El miércoles 19 de octubre autoridades chilenas y extrajeras, civiles y militares, encabezadas por la ministra de defensa Nacional Maya Fernández Allende y el Comandante en Jefe de la FACh, General del Aire Arturo Merino Núñez, fueron recibidas en la base aérea de Cerro Moreno.

Las autoridades presentes participaron en un briefing sobre Salitre 2022, en el cual el Director de este, General de Aviación Leonardo Romanini Gutiérrez presento las cifras e informaciones relacionadas.
Estuvieron también presentes como invitados General de Aviación Hugo Rodríguez González, el Comandante en Jefe del Ejército, General Javier Iturriaga Del Campo, El Comandante en Jefe Almirante Juan Andrés De la Maza Larraín, el Jefe del Estado Mayor de la Fuerza Aérea Argentina, Xavier Julián Isaac, el Secretario de Asuntos Internacionales para la Defensa José Francisco CAFIERO, los subsecretarios de Defensa Nacional, integrantes de la Comisión de Defensa de la Cámara de diputadas y Diputados, encabezada por su presidente Andrés Jouannet Valderrama y entre otras parte del Alto Mando de la Fuerza Aérea de Chile y el representante del Comandante de la Aeronáutica de Brasil, General Alessandro Cramer.

Tuvieron la oportunidad de visitar los hangares asignados a las representaciones de Argentina y Brasil,

y después de presenciar las salidas de los aviones F-16 y A-36 chilenos, F-5M de Brasil, así como los A4-AR y IA-63 Pampa III argentinos,

para finalizar la visita con una presentación al Centro de Operaciones Aéreas Combinado (CAOC), núcleo central (Centro neurálgico) de la operación a partir del cual se planifican coordinan y efectúan las misiones aéreas.

El 21 de octubre y tal como planeado se finalizó con gran éxito Salitre 2022.
A lo largo de estas 2 semanas se efectuaron mas de 300 misiones aéreas, con 50 salidas diarias en las cuales participaron mas de 800 personas y 37 aeronaves de las Fuerzas Aéreas de Argentina, Brasil y Chile, así como una representación de la Fuerza Espacial de Estados Unidos.
Y tal como lo señalo en su discurso el director de este evento, General de Aviación Leonardo Romanini Gutiérrez, cero incidentes. Resaltó también el profesionalismo y esfuerzo permanente de todo el personal asignado a este ejercicio de mayor envergadura en América del Sur.
Además, el Director del Ejercicio extendió una invitación para una nueva edición que sería en 2026.

Finalizado la ceremonia se hizo entregas de recuerdos a los jefes de las delegaciones extranjeras y comandantes de las unidades aéreas.

Por su parte y agradeciendo la hospitalidad e intercambio de conocimientos a lo largo de estos días, estas misma presentaron unos obsequios a las autoridades de Salitre 2022.

From October 10 to 21th, the fourth edition of the Salitre Combined Multinational Exercise was held at the Antofagasta-Cerro Moreno and Iquique-Los Cóndores Bases.
It is considered one of the most important and largest in South America.
Air and human resources were used not only from the Chilean Air Force, but also from Argentina, Brazil and a cell of the United States Special Forces.
Observers from Canada, Peru, Mexico and Uruguay were present.
The objective of this exercise is to reinforce the interoperability of the concurrent Air Forces under NATO regulations. It allows participating aircrews to disseminate and share experiences and knowledge in the management and performance of combined missions.
The Chilean Air Force used the following combat aircraft: at the Cerro Moreno base, General Dynamics (Fokker) F-16AM and F-16BM Fighting Falcon, CASA (ENAER) A-36 Halcon II, Sikorsky MH-60M BlackHawk and Bell 412EP.
The Lockheed Martin F-16CJ & F-16DJ Fighting Falcon, the Northrop F-5E Tiger III and the Embraer A-29B Super Tucano operated in Los Cóndores.
The FACh’s Lockheed C-130H Hercules and Boeing KC-135E Stratotanker were used for in-flight support and refueling.

It should be noted that, in this edition of Salitre 2022, the services of the United States Space Force and the Chilean Air Force Space Directorate were used for the first time, who, thanks to their state-of-the-art technologies in searching and obtaining data and information of primary importance for air and ground operations, they open a new chapter in combat techniques.
When mentioning the land part of the Exercise, it is worth noting the participation of Special Forces from Chile and the United States made up of FACh Aviation Commands and the Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) of the United States Air Force. One of its missions being the protection and defense of the bases and control centers.
The official inauguration of the Combined Multinational Air Exercise Salitre 2022 was held on October 10 in the technical training hangar of the Cerro Moreno Air Base, in Antofagasta, chaired by the director of the Exercise, Aviation General Leonardo Romanini Gutiérrez and with the presence of the participating delegations, national and foreign.
The following combat scenario was presented: based on a United Nations resolution to postpone an invasion of the yellow zone and allow the delivery of humanitarian aid, it is necessary to build an international coalition with the support of allied countries.
The conflict opposes the Blue coalition, led by Chile and based in Cerro Moreno, to the Reds starting from the base of Los Cóndores, in Iquique.

672 FACh personnel plus 169 from Argentina, Brazil and the United States participated in this simulation of both air and land combat.
The figures provided report some 32 aircraft operating simultaneously in 52 departures, totaling more than 300 flights.

An exercise of this magnitude implies not only the human or material factor, but also the inherent challenges related to operations (common methodologies, procedures and language), logistics (support for aircraft, procedures and military security), security (management of large number of aircraft and flight area, common procedures in tarmac operations), and administrations (Support for personnel participating in the exercise, additional overload at the base, without forgetting special procedures).
These combined daily actions and operations allow the bonds of friendship to be further developed thanks to the interactions of the different participants in the exercise.
On Wednesday, October 19, Chilean and foreign civil and military authorities, headed by the Minister of National Defense Maya Fernández Allende and the Commander in Chief of the FACh, Air Force General Arturo Merino Núñez, were received at the Cerro Moreno air base.
The authorities present participated in a briefing on Salitre 2022, in which its Director, Aviation General Leonardo Romanini Gutiérrez presented the figures and related information.
Also present as guests were General of Aviation Hugo Rodríguez González, the Commander in Chief of the Army, General Javier Iturriaga Del Campo, the Commander in Chief Admiral Juan Andrés De la Maza Larraín, the Chief of Staff of the Argentine Air Force, Xavier Julián Isaac, the Secretary of International Affairs for Defense José Francisco CAFIERO, the undersecretaries of National Defense, members of the Defense Commission of the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies, headed by its president Andrés Jouannet Valderrama and among others part of the High Command of the Chilean Air Force and the representative of the Commander of the Brazilian Aeronautics, General Alessandro Cramer.
They had the opportunity to visit the hangars assigned to the representations of Argentina and Brazil and after witnessing the departures of the Chilean F-16 and A-36 aircraft, the Brazilian F-5M, as well as the A4-AR and IA-63 Pampa III Argentines, to end the visit with a presentation to the Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC), the central nucleus (nerve center) of the operation from which air missions are planned, coordinated and carried out.
On October 21 and as planned, Salitre 2022 was completed with great success.
Throughout these 2 weeks, more than 300 air missions were carried out, with 50 daily departures in which more than 800 people and 37 aircraft from the Air Forces of Argentina, Brazil and Chile participated, as well as a representation of the United States Space Force.
And as the director of this event, Aviation General Leonardo Romanini Gutiérrez, pointed out in his speech, zero incidents. In addition, he highlighted the professionalism and permanent effort of all the personnel assigned to this largest exercise in South America.
In addition, the Director of the Exercise extended an invitation for a new edition that would be in 2026.
After the ceremony, souvenirs were delivered to the heads of the foreign delegations and commanders of the air units.
For their part, and thanking the hospitality and exchange of knowledge throughout these days, they presented some gifts to the authorities of Salitre 2022.
