Después de honrar a Tintín con “Rackham” en 2015, seguida de Magritte, los Diablos Rojos con el “Trident”, “Amare” en referencia a Tomorrowland y los Pitufos con el “Aerosmurf”, Brussels Airlines presentó el pasado 2 de mayo su sexto «Icono belga», un avión único inspirado en el pintor flamenco Pierre Bruegel el Viejo.
El resultado es una impresionante obra de arte y el diseño de aviones más complejo del mundo debido a la gran cantidad de detalles.

Este año se cumple el 450 aniversario de la muerte del pintor Pieter Bruegel, motivo por el cual Brussels Airlines decidió rendir homenaje al maestro flamenco.
En esta ocasión, la aerolínea se uño a VISITFLANDERS y BOZAR – Palacio de Bellas Artes quien sugirió trabajar con dos artistas belgas contemporáneos, Jos de Gruyter y Harald Thys.

 

Ambos artistas se encargaron de imaginar un diseño que refleje el trabajo del antiguo maestro de la perspectiva.
Para el avión, los 2 artistas han recopilado una selección de elementos de las pinturas emblemáticas de Pieter Bruegel el Viejo para crear una nueva composición.
El nuevo universo así formado incluye detalles y escenas de pinturas como los Proverbios Flamencos (1559), el Combate de Carnaval y Cuaresma (1559), Los Juegos de Niños (1560), La Huida a Egipto (1563), Cazadores en la Nieve (1565), Cosecha (1565) y la Danza de los Campesinos (1569).

 

 

El resultado es un Airbus A320 de 37 m de largo llamado Bruegel. Ambos lados del fuselaje tienen un diseño diferente. Se demoró 19 días pintando el avión a mano, porque es la imagen de avión más compleja que se haya hecho debido a la gran cantidad de detalles.

 

 

 

 

El avión fue presentado por Christina Foerster, directora general de Brussels Airlines, Ben Weyts, ministro flamenco de turismo y los artistas que realizaron esta obra.

El dúo de artistas Jos de Gruyter y Harald Thys ha sido seleccionado para representar a Bélgica en la 58ª Exposición Internacional de Arte de la Bienal de Venecia, que tendrá lugar del 10 de mayo al 24 de noviembre. Por este motivo, el primer vuelo de Bruegel lo llevará a Venecia el 3 de mayo para acompañar a los artistas en la inauguración del Pabellón de Bélgica de la Exposición Internacional de Arte – La Bienal de Venecia.
A partir de entonces, habrá vuelos a Tel Aviv y Londres, los días siguientes.

The result is an impressive piece of art and the most complex aircraft design in the world due to the large amount of detail.
This year marks the 450th anniversary of the death of the painter Brueghel, which is why Brussels Airlines decided to pay homage to the Flemish master.
On this occasion, the airline joined VISITFLANDERS and BOZAR – Palace of Fine Arts who suggested working with two contemporary Belgian artists, Jos de Gruyter and Harald Thys.
Both artists were commissioned in imagining a design that reflects the work of the former master of perspective.
For the plane, the two artists have compiled a selection of elements from the emblematic paintings of Pieter Bruegel the Elder to create a new composition.
The new universe formed includes details and scenes of paintings such as the Flemish Proverbs (1559), the Carnival and Lenten combat (1559), the Children’s Games (1560), The Flight into Egypt (1563), Hunters in the Snow (1565) ), The Harvest (1565) and the Dance of the Peasants (1569).
The result is a 37 m long Airbus A320 called Bruegel. Both sides of the fuselage have a different design. It took 19 days to paint the plane by hand, because it is the most complex plane image that has been made due to the large amount of detail.
The plane was unveiled in the presence of Christina Foerster, CEO of Brussels Airlines, Ben Weyts, Flemish minister of tourism and the artists who carried out this work.
